He grew up in Los Gatos and completed a Bachelor of Biological Science at the University of San Francisco before earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Dentistry, where he received honors in general dentistry, oral surgery, and social dentistry.

He went on to complete advanced training at UCLA, including an Advanced General Dentistry Education program and a cosmetic dentistry residency.
